"THE LIFE OF CHRIST WINDOWS"

The windows that comprise the art glass for the sanctuary are a story encompassing the life of Christ.

Hanging in front of our Sanctuary, Jesus stands with arms open wide   as an open invitation for all to come to Him.  The Greek letters Apha and Omega (the beginning and the end) serve to emphasize Christ's Deity.

THE NATIVITY WINDOW is portrayed with Mary and Joseph at the crib of the newborn Savior.  Gazing upward at our shepherd is one of the lambs of the flock. He represents all who are saved by the coming of Jesus.

THE TEACHING AND HEALING WINDOW is potrayed with the torch and lantern.  The torch has long been a symbol of knowledge.  It reminds us of Jesus' word, "I am the light of the world" and His admonition to "let your light shine before others that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven."  An early symbol of healing is the incense burning lantern which perfumed the air in the room of the sick.  The rising smoke represents the peace and spiritual healing Jesus gives and which all need.  Below is the earth to emphasize how far the Word of Jesus has spread.

THE SACRAMENT WINDOW shows a cup surrounded by grapes and wheat, symbols for Holy Communion.  Above this is a shell with waterdrops to depict Holy Baptism.  A baptismal font is in the bottom panel to reinforce this Sacrament.  Jesus instituted Holy Communion and commanded Holy Baptism.

THE PRAYER WINDOW shows Jesus in the Olive Garden kneeling at  a rock and pleading with His Heavenly Father.  The scene isolates Jesus with the night sky, cold rock and bare thorn bush.  Below are His beloved disciples sleeping through the agony.

THE DEATH or CRUCIFIXION WINDOW depicts Jesus' death by crucifixion on Golgotha.  Two smaller crosses appear below to remind us that He died between two thieves.  The inscription INRI, nailed to the cross, means "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews."  A shroud hangs over the cross arm to give us hope of the Third Day.  Below, the closed and silent tomb adds to the finality of Jesus' great sacrifice for us
THE RESSURECTION WINDOW depicts Jesus rising from the tomb in triumph and holding a victory banner.  Glorious rays, emitting from the tomb, surround Jesus.  The soldier below is frightened and bewildered by this earth-shaking event.
